(KINKY GROOVE/THE GUEST HOUSE) DA YAMA started his music career in 1997 as a guitarist in a noise hardcore band in his hometown of Osaka. Drawing from his collection of junk effectors and eccentric records, he developed his own sound, outputting it through guitar and DJ mixers. While releasing band works, he also performed at numerous underground parties in Osaka at the time. From 2000, he began organizing live & DJ events and outdoor rave parties with indie artists known as the "Kansai Zero Generation." He soon became acquainted with prestigious techno labels such as CLR, Drum Code, Perc Trax, and Terminal M, and has collaborated with and invited numerous artists from both Japan and abroad. After moving to Tokyo, he produced and performed at various events at venues such as module, AIR, eleven, Aoyama Hachi, DOMMUNE, and VENT. He also gained experience in on-site production and public relations as an event producer and promoter for a certain domestic music label. He is also involved in the production of in-store background music for cafes, bars, and hotels in Tokyo and other Asian countries such as Shanghai, Bali, and Istanbul, as well as A&R for artist works and compilation albums. Under the name of track maker "Hrk.Y", he remixed "Q'HEY / NORTH WIND" with Ryogo Yamamori in May 2013 and released it. In May 2014, he released the original track "Zest", which recorded strong sales outside of English-speaking countries such as Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and South America. In November 2014, he formed the DJ/party-making unit "KINKY GROOVE" with ALPH ZEN (Basara-Za) and Yoshiki Funatsu. While performing at major Tokyo parties such as WIRED CLASH, Mother, ENTER SAKE. hosted by Richie Hawtin, Dance On Planet@ageha, and Brightness@The Bar, the self-organized event "The Guest House" picks up venues where deep music lovers gather and is held sporadically. Supported by some enthusiastic supporters, the DJ unit held a collaborative tour from Japan to Australia with the Sydney DJ unit and party creation group "Mantra Collective" in November 2016. In 2018, members went to Berlin and started holding parties connecting the local scenes of Tokyo and Berlin.
