A sound originator who creates heavyweight music through various approaches. In 2001, GOTH-TRAD formed REBEL FAMILIA with Akimoto "Heavy" Takeshi. Starting with their debut live performance at "METMORPHOSE," they appeared at numerous domestic festivals, including Fuji Rock Festival. By 2007, they had released five singles and three albums. As a solo artist, GOTH-TRAD released his 1st album "GOTH-TRAD I" in 2003. He began his solo activities in Japan in earnest and actively started touring overseas. In 2005, he released his experimental 2nd album, "The Inverted Perspective," making full use of self-made instruments and effectors. In November of the same year, he launched a new approach to dance music called Mad Rave, and released his 3rd album, "Mad Raver's Dance Floor." The title "Back To Chill," included in "Mad Raver's Dance Floor," became a topic in the London DUBSTEP scene, and in 2007, he released the "Back To Chill EP" from UK's SKUD BEAT and the 12" "Cut End/Flags" from DEEP MEDi MUSIK. During his European tour, which spanned eight countries, he performed a live set at London's legendary DUBSTEP party "DMZ," exciting the local audience. Since then, he has continued to release music mainly from overseas labels, and has consistently toured in over 40 countries in Europe, North and South America, Asia, and Oceania. In 2012, he released his long-awaited 4th album "New Epoch" from DEEP MEDi MUSIK and performed at Fuji Rock Festival 2012. From 2009 to 2019, he has also performed at numerous European and American festivals. In May 2015, he remixed the noise core band "ENDON," which is attracting attention in the underground scene, and a split 12" with a remix by Merzbow was released by Daymare Recordings. In December of the same year, he held a collaborative event "Low End Meeting" with Boris, a band that Japan is proud of, at Daikanyama UNIT, and performed their collaborative work "DEADSONG." The live performance, which incorporated a sound system and featured an ultra-low-frequency and experimental approach, became a hot topic. His own party "Back To Chill," which started in 2006, held a special event with REDBULL MUSIC ACADEMY TOKYO in November 2014, and released the compilation "MUGEN" as the first release from the Back To Chill label. In 2016, celebrating the 10th anniversary of Back To Chill, a limited dubplate version of his 5th album "PSIONICS," featuring collaborations with Boris and Dalek, was released exclusively for special members. In April 2017, Back To Chill held its first overseas performance at Korner in Taipei. In September 2018, the 1st debut album "HARMONICS" by "EARTAKER," a new unit formed in 2017 with vocalist "Diesuck" and noise artist "Masayuki Imanishi," was released from the up-and-coming label "Bedouin Records," and its new sound attracted attention. In March 2019, a split album with JK FLESH (GODFLESH) focusing on Slow-Motion Industrial Dub Techno, "KNIGHT OF THE BLACK TABLE," was released by Daymare Recordings (Japan) / Avalanche Recordings (overseas), and he performed a Live B2B set with JK FLESH at "Le Guess Who? Festival" (Netherlands) and "The Bug presents PRESSURE" (London). From 2020, numerous overseas tours and domestic events have been cancelled due to the impact of the coronavirus, but in 2021, he released the 12" single "Airbreaker VIP/APES" from DEEP MEDI MUSIK. Furthermore, he released three new albums, "MUTATIONS," "PSIONICS (Normal Version)," and "SURVIVAL RESEARCH," from his own Back To Chill label, and is actively engaged in production and label management.
