Rrose is a project by Seth Horvitz, originally from California (currently residing in London). While earning a bachelor's degree in Cognitive Science from the University of California, Berkeley, Seth was active as a club and radio DJ, promoter, and producer in the San Francisco Bay Area throughout the 1990s. After producing and touring for several years under the name Sutekh, Seth returned to academia and earned a master's degree in Electronic Music and Recording Media from Mills College in Oakland. In 2010, the Rrose project was launched, and Rrose's first release, released on Sandwell District in 2011, was shrouded in mystery regarding its creator, as were a series of records released from her own Eaux label starting in 2012. Rrose then released her debut solo album, "Hymn to Moisture," to high acclaim worldwide. Her performances have been well-received not only by seated audiences in historical theaters and museums but also on the sweaty dance floors of the world's most respected nightclubs and electronic music festivals, such as Berghain, Unsound, Labyrinth, Movement, and Mutek. Rrose's impact on the development of contemporary techno is clear and continues to this day, and will continue in the future.
