≪THE HEAVYMANNERS Profile≫ In the summer of 2001, after the shocking disbandment announcement of DRY&HEAVY, the drum and bass combo that held the title of strongest rhythm section at the time at Fuji Rock's Green Stage, Takeshi "HEAVY" Akimoto, Japan's world-renowned reggae bassist, formed the long-awaited reggae dub band with his close friend GOTH-TRAD. He is currently active in REBEL FAMILIA, which is taking the world by storm with its unprecedented, cutting-edge DUB SOUND. In 2002, Shing02&THE HEAVYMANNERS performed a legendary one-off live show at the White Stage of FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL. After that, they remained silent in the reggae scene, but finally started full-scale activities in 2007! Currently, they are active mainly in Tokyo, with Takashi Toyama, formerly of CULTIVATOR, on drums. They made a shocking comeback at the "RIDDIM CAMP" event at Ebisu Liquidroom on July 27, 2007, and their live performance, which overturned the Japanese reggae dub scene, greatly impressed the audience. In 2008, they began full-scale album production. They traveled to Jamaica and worked with legends who created reggae history, including KING YELLOWMAN, LINVAL THOMPSON, SLY DUNBAR, and former members of the REVOLUTIONARIES. In particular, SLY&HEAVY, the ultimate session between HEAVY and SLY DUNBAR, the world's strongest drummer known as SLY & ROBBIE, was realized. The album "THE HEAVYMANNERS" won first place in the reggae band category of the magazines "Music Magazine" and "Riddim". It was proven to be Japan's strongest reggae/dub band. In the second half of 2009, in order to further pursue reggae dub music, they welcomed veteran reggae keyboardist Jun Suzuki and newcomer reggae guitarist Yuki Yoneyama, and re-launched as the strongest dub band. On February 12, 2010, at Riku Miy's release party “DUB IT!!” held at Ebisu Liquidroom, they overwhelmed the audience with their forward-thinking musicality and unwavering skill. Then, on July 20, 2011, they released their long-awaited second album "SURVIVAL"!! http://www.theheavymanners.com/
