Grew up influenced by her father, a jazz saxophonist, and was exposed to black music from a young age. Made her major debut in April 1999 with the single 'I'll be there.' Her first album 'Colorado,' released the same year, debuted at number one on the Oricon charts. In 2000, she won the 'New Artist of the Year' award at the Japan Gold Disc Awards. That same year, she appeared in a commercial for Kirin Beverages' coffee 'FIRE,' generating much discussion. Recently, she has performed live in Philadelphia, recorded in the UK, and actively engaged in exchanges with international artists. She is trusted by many artists and musicians and continues to expand her activities both domestically and internationally.
