The UK is now universally recognized as a leading force in the global club scene. TOMO HIRATA debuted in 1990 from that very scene and is a pioneer who brought the European-style club scene and Balearic-style DJing to Japan. As DJ TOMO, he built an unshakable career as the resident DJ for the historic club parties “Club VENUS” and “X-TRA,” which boasted crowds of over 1,000 people, as well as a supporting DJ for Underworld, The Chemical Brothers, and Fatboy Slim during their first visits to Japan, and through appearances at large-scale events such as “RAINBOW 2000” and “Electraglide.” He has also created 15 DJ mixes across a wide range of genres, from breakbeats to house, trance, and EDM, solidifying his reputation as a mixing professional. As a creator, he achieved a smash hit with "feels like HEAVEN" as part of the POP project H II H, which created the theme songs for the Kadokawa films "Ring/Spiral." In 2005, he provided "Paranoid" for UK's prestigious Tip World label's popular compilation "Raja Ram's Stash Bag 3," marking the first Japanese release from Tip World. In 2009, he participated in Shinichi Osawa's "TEPPAN-YAKI - A Collection Of Remixes" with "EEAA." In 2010, he co-created two songs for Osawa's "SO2," and in 2012, they released "SPANKICK" under the name SHINICHI OSAWA+TOMO HIRATA. Currently, he is a pioneer of EDM in Japan, which is booming worldwide, especially in the United States. He hosts "Taiko Radio" every Saturday on Futuregroove FM (http://www.futuregroovefm.com/). In 2013, he also launched the EDMF (Electronic Dance Music Force) label, and one of its tracks, "The Places," was included in the compilation "Amnesia Ibiza EDM Vol.1" from the renowned Ibiza club Amnesia and supported by French veteran Joachim Garraud. In 2014, he released the single "Taiko" from French major dance label DJ Center Records, which was supported by global superstar DJs such as Laidback Luke, Sidney Samson, Quentin Mosimann, and Justin Prime, and reached the highest position to date for a Japanese EDM artist on the beatport ELECTRO HOUSE chart at number 27. Furthermore, he released the collaborative single "One Last Time (twoloud Sofia to Tokyo Edit)" with Hotlife and Jonny Rose from twoloud's PLAYBOX label.
