TONTON is a VJ, graphic designer, and video artist from Chiba Prefecture, Japan, based in Tokyo and Ibiza. With the theme of "deconstruction and reconstruction of concepts in a chaotic reality," he specializes in harmonious and abstract visual expressions of light. Since starting his VJ activities in 1998, he has continued to challenge new possibilities as a VJ artist by co-producing Japan's first web-based VJ broadcast and 3D projection mapping on a radio program. He has expanded his VJ activities to various parts of the world, including New York, Rome, Bali, and Vietnam. Since 2012, he has moved his summer base of operations to Ibiza, Spain, where he has been a regular performer twice a week at "Privilege," a Guinness World Record-certified mega-club, and a regular member of Marco Carola's "MUSIC ON" party at "amnesia" from its initial launch, as well as a regular performer at Nightmares on Wax's "WAX DA JAM." He has gained high acclaim as a VJ both domestically and internationally. While his popularity in VJ activities centered on Ibiza is widely known, he engages in activities that transcend genres, covering everything from the latest dance music to fashion, otaku culture, and art, regardless of the high and low aspects of the scene. He has directed and VJed projections using huge 3D screens at the dance music outdoor festival "METAMORPHOSE," which has recorded over 20,000 attendees, provided live VJing and video direction at Japan's largest fashion and music event, "Girls Award," and performed VJ sessions with musicians such as "DEEPCOVER (Takashi Numazawa & Toshiyuki Mori)." He also serves as the exclusive VJ for new-generation idol groups with musical depth such as sora tob sakana and amiinA, and has been in charge of stage direction for numerous artists' performances at the Budokan and Tokyo Dome. His sense of rhythm based on triple meter, the use of pauses, and his approach of carefully considering the atmosphere of the venue and the intentions of the performing artists to "sublimate the work" beyond the VJ framework have established him as an artist in his own right. Since 2015, while working as a solo artist, he formed "momentgram" with DJ medical, where their expression and direction of "universality in a moment of brilliance" in the form of video and music art has attracted attention, providing a new direction for the Tokyo underground scene. In addition to VJ activities, he also worked as an in-house designer at many clubs during the club boom, and as a video artist and graphic designer, he has designed promotional posters for various events, produced the music video for Hi-STANDARD's "The Gift," and created the "HIGH LIFE" poster as the main artwork for the botanical liqueur "COCALERO," contributing to the promotional activities of both Japanese artists and street culture since the 2000s.
