加山雄三
Since I couldn't get a ticket for the Tokyo International Forum, I watched the live viewing at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku, Screen 9. A V-clip (rehearsal footage from the previous day) was shown starting 10 minutes before the performance. He appeared in the white costume used for the poster, and sang while sitting in a chair in the center of the stage. The first part was centered around songs about the sea, and after the 9th song, 'Koshinmaru,' there was an intermission (30 minutes). During the second part after the break, there was a problem at the theater, and the video and audio of the virtual Wakadaisho's (Young Boss) singing were disrupted at the beginning (it is unknown if this also occurred at the live venue). It was fortunate that it was virtual; if it had been live singing, people would have demanded refunds. Although not listed on the setlist, the backing band played 'Black Sand Beach' before 'Aoi Hoshikuzu' (Blue Stardust). If 'Soshite Yo wa Nobori Tsuzukeru' (And the Sun Continues to Rise), which he only sang virtually, is on the setlist, then 'Black Sand Beach,' which is also his song, should also be included on the setlist. I thought he would sing 'My Way' as the last English song, but it was 'Bridge over Troubled Water.' The encore consisted of 'O Yome ni Oide' (Come Be My Bride) and 'Sarai,' and the second encore was 'Kimi to Itsumademo' (Forever With You) and 'Ai Suru Toki wa Ima' (Now is the Time to Love). There were a few places where he messed up the lines during the songs, but that was all part of the charm. He sang the songs magnificently. For about 10 minutes after the end of the performance, credits with still photos (including shots from today's concert) were shown with the names of the people involved in this concert and Yuzo Kayama's career up until now. Just when it seemed like everything was over, the curtain rose and Yuzo Kayama was on stage! Yuzo Kayama waved goodbye to the people who had watched the subtitles until the very end, and Wakadaisho's last show came to an end.
