"The Five Star Stories (Japanese: ファイブスター物語, Hepburn: Faibu Sutā Monogatari, abbreviated as FSS) is a Japanese manga series by Mamoru Nagano. While classified as science fiction (SF), Nagano himself has publicly stated that it is a "fairy tale," akin to what is known as science fantasy in the West. It has been serialized in the anime magazine Monthly Newtype published by Kadokawa Shoten since the April 1986 issue, with several hiatuses."
