Combining rope, textile, and dance, A I D A creates immersive performances. A artist duo formed by Ai Aida and Pablo Aida. Ai Aida is a Tokyo-based performer, dancer, and textile and costume designer. She has worked professionally in the arts for over 15 years. In her costume practice, she often upcycles kimono fabrics into contemporary pieces. Her work includes live performance and design, and is shared through workshops and collaborations internationally. Pablo Aida is a Tokyo-based artist, rope practitioner, and writer. He began studying rope in 2017 and opened his private studio in 2020, where he develops AIDA Method, a rope-based somatic practice. His work moves across installation, live performance, photography, and writing, and is shared through workshops and collaborations internationally They are the cofounders of UNBOUND, Japan’s largest music and rope event, and the cohosts of MUSUBI, a podcast on hemp and rope culture.
