Born in 1978 and hailing from Kanagawa Prefecture, Chihei Hatakeyama engages in solo activities under his own name. He is also active as part of the electronic music unit Opitope, Luis Nanook with Tsutomu Satachi, and the dub rock band All The Frogs Are Our Weekend. In addition to producing his own unique musical works, he provides music for films and other media. He released his first album in 2006 on Kranky, and was praised worldwide for the beautiful sounds constructed from heavily processed instrumental sounds. Since then, he has continued to actively release works from labels around the world.
