John Robinson began his career in Tokyo in the early 1990s as a club DJ specializing in dance music genres such as house, techno, and trance. He served as the main DJ at the large-scale disco Juliana's Tokyo (Shibaura, Tokyo), which opened in 1991, and also appeared on compilation albums (avex trax) bearing the club's name. After Juliana's Tokyo closed in 1994, he became the resident DJ at another large-scale disco, Velfarre (Roppongi, Tokyo), which opened at the end of the same year, and became involved in the club's management. Around 2000, he reflected on the fact that his activities had become dispersed across pop music, the music business, and show business, and attempted to return to and concentrate on his roots as a club DJ. Since then, he has participated in various music events throughout Asia and Oceania, including China, Bali in Indonesia, and Australia. In 2007, he returned to Japanese television with an appearance on the variety show SMAP×SMAP (Kansai TV/Fuji TV). In June 2010, he moved his base of operations to London and Southeast England. As of 2018, he is based in Nevada, USA, where he holds regular parties. When he visits Japan, he performs all over the country, as well as at his own resident parties [PLANET LOVE] and [SANCTUARY], which started in the summer of 2017, and also at [agefarre], which is held every autumn.
