Kiyoharu made his major debut in 1994 as the vocalist of Kuroyume. With his charisma and songs with strong messages, he enjoyed immense popularity, but in 1999, he suddenly announced an indefinite hiatus. In the same year, he formed sads, and in 2000, the song "Boukyaku no Sora" (Sky of Oblivion), the theme song for the TBS drama "Ikebukuro West Gate Park," became a huge hit. The album "BABYLON," which included the song, reached number one on the Oricon chart. He made his solo debut in 2003 with the DVD single "Aurora." In 2004, he appeared as the opening act for David Bowie's JAPAN TOUR in Osaka. In March 2020, he released his 10th original album, "JAPANESE MENU/DISTORTION10." In October, his autobiography, "Kiyoharu," was published.
