DJ Takashi Shimizu

Born in 1981. DJ Takashi Shimizu began DJing in earnest at the age of 16, and his talent was recognized early on, leading him to play at various events. Currently, he performs at numerous events throughout Japan, mainly in Tokyo. While faithfully maintaining the roots of HIP HOP, his play, which uses "FUNKY" as a keyword to thrillingly and trickily cook up FUNK, SOUL, JAZZ, and BREAKBEATS with his own unique sensibility, is exquisite. He has performed with top domestic artists as well as visiting artists from overseas (MARVA WHITNY, STEPH POCKETS, LARGE PROFESSOR, DMC for RUN DMC, FUNKYDL, FAT JON, SLUM VILLAGE). Currently, he is a regular DJ at popular events at Shibuya THE ROOM, Family, organ bar, and Daikanyama AIR, including "IN BUSINESS," one of Japan's top FUNK and SOUL events. Last summer, as a member of "IN BUSINESS" along with MURO, DJ JIN, Daisuke Kuroda, and Osaka Monaurail, he performed at Japan's largest outdoor festival, FUJI ROCK '07, to great success. His MIXCD series, "Drumtic" and "SOUL MAKOSSA," have sold an astonishing number of copies for a MIX CD, earning him praise from various fields beyond the hip-hop scene and making him a presence that has suddenly attracted attention.
